from Dark Blue Wool with Branch of Service Piping. It has a 5 button front
and comes unlined.
It is also available in 2 lined versions, which are the same as
the unlined version, except for the lining. The cotton lined version has natural cotton
body and sleeve lining and an inside pocket. The wool lined version has a gray wool body lining,
with natural cotton
sleeve lining and an inside pocket.

The pattern M1883 Enlisted Fatigue Blouse is made
from Dark Blue Wool (same as 1873 coat, but without the Branch of Service Piping).
It has a 5 button front, 1 button on each cuff, an inside pocket and comes unlined.
It is also available in 2 lined versions, which are the same as
the unlined version, except for the lining. The cotton lined version has natural cotton
body and sleeve lining and an inside pocket. The wool lined version has a gray wool body lining,
with natural cotton sleeve lining and an inside pocket.

The pattern M1884 Enlisted Fatigue Blouse is made from
Brown Canvas Duck. The Army originally intended this fatigue clothing for Cavalry soldiers
cleaning the stables, since the brown shade would not show stains as well as the wool
clothing. However, the cloth was found to be so comfortable in warm weather, that it was
issued to all soldiers for fatigue duty. This uniform was especially popular with soldiers
serving in Cuba during the Spanish American War in 1898.
A nice reproduction using a Nutmeg colored cotton duck (canvas). Historians agree
there were many shades of brown canvas used during this time frame, as again, color variation
was experienced from dye lot to dye lot. Seams on our coat are flat-felled.
Six large black imitation hard rubber buttons close the front. The blouse has
two exterior patch type breast pockets and is unlined.

Dark Blue Wool (same as 1883 coat, but with 3 outside pockets). It has a 5 button front,
an inside pocket, 3 outside pockets, 3 buttons on each cuff and comes unlined.
It is also available in 2 lined versions, which are the same as
the unlined version, except for the lining. The cotton lined version has natural cotton
body and sleeve lining and an inside pocket. The wool lined version has a gray wool body lining,
with natural cotton sleeve lining and an inside pocket.

The 1872 and 1873 chevrons were significantly
different from the Civil War period chevrons. The chevron was a piece of branch and
service colored wool facing cloth with black silk chain stitch outlining the pattern.
The black area on our chevrons is dark blue wool.
The M1884 Gold Bouillon dress coat chevrons are the same pattern as the M1872 chevrons, except
they are made with Gold Bouillon.
In 1898 the Army authorized cotton chevrons to be used on the khaki uniform. This was so that the coat and chevrons
would shrink at the same rate. These cotton chevrons are ONLY for use on the khaki coats.
