Our model 1872 dress coat is made using our quality 19 oz dark blue field
service wool with a natural corset jean body lining, and black skirt lining. Trimmed in yellow for Cavalry and
red for Light (mounted) Artillery. This dress coat is a stunning example of the design and style that went into
the post Civil War uniforms.
The musician's dress coat is shown below on the right. This one being that of a Chief Trumpeter.
Chevrons are not included, but are available for an
additional charge. Additional service stripes can be added, but must be
added separately. Specify the order of the service stripes in the "Comments"
field of the address page.
Custom made item, please allow 8 - 10 weeks for
delivery. Custom Clothing and Uniforms are not returnable. Rush orders are available for an
additional price. A rush order reduces the manufacturing time from 8 - 10 weeks to 4 - 5 weeks. The price

The 1872 and 1873 chevrons were significantly
different from the Civil War period chevrons. The chevron was a piece of branch and
service colored wool facing cloth with black silk chain stitch outlining the pattern.
The black area on our chevrons is dark blue wool.
The M1884 Gold Bouillon dress coat chevrons are the same pattern as the M1872 chevrons, except
they are made with Gold Bouillon.
In 1898 the Army authorized cotton chevrons to be used on the khaki uniform. This was so that the coat and chevrons
would shrink at the same rate. These cotton chevrons are ONLY for use on the khaki coats.
