There are a variety of materials
available for our women's clothing. They range from cotton (inexpensive)
to Silk (expensive).
Material choices:
- Cotton Batiste: Semi-Sheer white cotton material, similar to
thin muslin.
- Cotton Duck: a heavier material (light weight canvas) used in
aprons when more protection is desired.
- Cotton, Modern: These are cotton fabrics that are available
currently in fabric stores. We select only those that fit the criteria
of 1800s fabrics. That is, colors and designs that are similar to colors
and designs of the 1800s (i.e. follow the "rules" for 1800s
fabrics) but cannot be documented as having actually existed. These
fabrics are available in Solids and Prints. (Stripes are
currently found in drapery and upholstery fabrics only.)
- Cotton, Light Weight: These are light weight / semi-sheer
cotton fabrics, mainly used in underpinnings but also sometimes used in
dresses. These fabrics are available in Solids only.
- Cotton, Repro: These are reproductions of fabrics produced in
the 1800s. They are only available in Small Print, Large Prints or
Small Plaid. The
prints are designs printed on the fabric, while the plaids are woven
into the fabric.
- Drapery: These include drapery material, interior design and
upholstery fabrics. The weight of these materials varies significantly.
Some dress styles can not be made with the heavier fabrics, as they
would weigh too much (i.e. 3 flounce skirts). These fabrics are
available in Solids, Stripes, Prints and Plaids.
- Muslin: available in Bleached (White) or Unbleached
(Off-White) and are used in aprons, underpinnings and blouses.
- Satin, Solid: Satin material in Solid colors only.
- Silk, Solid: Silk material in Solid colors only.
- Taffeta, Solid: Taffeta material in Solid colors only.
- Silk Taffeta, Plaid: is a Silk Taffeta in Plaid design
only.
- Wool: . Wool is available in Solids, Stripes, Plaids, ?. The
prices of wool varies significantly. If you are interested in wool for a
ladies clothing item you need to call us first to discuss what you want
so that we can find if it is available and the price change to the item
for the wool.
Not all colors and shades are available in all
fabrics / patterns at all times. We will come as close as possible when
we select the material for your order. If we can not get something
close, we will call to to discuss the options currently available. We
will also call you to discuss your choice if we have any questions or
other problems with your selection.

price is for cotton material and style shown, other materials, modifications,
additional trim or other changes will affect the price. Rush orders MAY be available for an
additional price, call us about this. A rush order reduces the manufacturing time but DOES NOT include
