U.S. (Union) Naval Officers Embroidered Hat Insignia        This is the embroidered insignia. It is Gold and Silver Bullion on a navy blue background. It is normally supplied loose (not attached to hat/cap), but can be sewn on, when purchased WITH a hat or cap for an additional amount.     1852 Insignia: March 8, 1852.     1852 Insignia: Sept 24, 1852     1861 Insignia: February 8, 1852     1862 Insignia: July 31, 1862.     1863 Insignia: May 23, 1862. S. Navy, from before the American Civil War (1852) until just after it (1866). Although the pictures of the 1862 shoulder straps show the anchor at an angle, they also came parallel to the side of the shoulder strap, like the 1864 ones. The eagles on the shoulder straps also varied, based on the maker, etc. Our eagles and anchors may vary somewhat from the pictures below.     More information coming as soon as possible.      We DO NOT stock all these shoulder boards and therefore delivery may take from 7 - 10 days to several or many weeks.
