Girls 19th century Bloomers / Drawers / Pantaloons / Pantalets |
|
|
Not to be confused with Amelia Bloomer,
bloomers were a 20 century phrase for drawers. Drawers/ pantalets were
worn crotch less for lack of words, easier bathroom use. That way you wouldn't have to pull your
drawers down, making it easier to have your hands free for the rest of your clothing.
Drawers are long (ankle length) up till 1863 when the new
fashion came into play, especially for the Union states. Then from 1863 on was what
is called the short drawers / bloomers, (slightly below the knee cap).
If you wish a set of tucks or more lace added e-mail
for the additional cost. Other than that they are made with a couple of
small tucks and a small white trim on bottom of white cotton.
Materials available are white cotton or a solid
cotton to match the dress.
Available in Girl's sizes ONLY, see women's
drawers for
adult sizes. When ordering you need to select whether you want short or long drawers.
Suggestion; For young children I suggest sewn up crotch, since
children today, don't know how to play with their legs close, as they were
taught then to do.Measurements needed:
- Waist: Around the natural waist (Item 14 from measurement chart).
- Hips: Around fullest part (Item 18 from measurement chart).
- Length: (not on measurement chart)
- Short Bloomers: from waist over the side of hip, then down to 2" below the knee cap
- Long Bloomers: from waist over the side of hip, then down to the
end of the ankle bone

A chemise is what goes on first, under / before the corset to
keep the corset clean from your body oils and dirt. The chemise has short sleeves and comes
to mid calf in length. The one we carry is a pull over with a "V" shape and lined
yoke. It comes with light trim around the sleeve bottom edge and the bottom of the length.
We carry the chemise in white cotton, cotton blend & while it
lasts, this great white on white stripe light weight cotton, that you see in the picture.
If you want more lace or a set of tucks, e-mail for addition cost, or
see below.

Girls Hoop Slips, Hoops with Blouse, Hoops with Camisole and Camisoles |

Hoop Slip with Blouse or Camisole Attached
The advantage of the hoop slip coming with the blouse/chemise attached
is to keep the blouse in and the hoop up. They were really clever to know the problems in their
children's clothing. Who wants to keep yelling at their child to pull up their hoop or tuck in their
blouse/ bodice?
These are all in white cotton unless asked other wise for different color.
A. Hoop with Lace Trimmed Blouse Attached. The first picture below
is of a hoop attached to a button down bodice/ blouse. It can be with a standup collar or round Peter
pan collar, buttons down front. Has wrist band or if you wish drawstring band around wrist. Ties at
waist. Has tucks down the front or a row of lace on each side. Depending on the age of the child, can
be a 2 or 3 bone hoop that is attached to the blouse. Very easy for the child to put on. And want have
that trouble of always dropping her hoop and her bodice pulling out of skirt.
B. Hoop with Pleated Front Blouse Attached. This is the
same as "A", above, except only buttons half way down and has a pleated front.
C. Hoop with Camisole Attached. This is a camisole and
hoop attached. This is great for those fall or cold events that we attend, to help keep your child's
chest warm. This can button half way down the front or be a pull over. Ties at waist.
Separate Pieces: Hoop Slip and/or Camisole
D. Hoop Slip ONLY: Depending on the size of the child 2
to 3 bones are made on this. Drawstring waist.
E. Camisole ONLY: This can be half button up or
pull over style. Straight or tie at waist.
