U.S. Naval Officer's Frock Coat |

This is the regulation uniform
coat of the United States Navy from 1852 through 1866. The exception is
that the ranks of Commodore and above changed their sleeve insignia on
January 14, 1865 and the rank of Vice Admiral was added at that time. The
ranks of Captain and above changed their shoulder straps in 1866. The coat
is made for dark blue wool. Where there is a sleeve braid insignia it is
gold bullion. Buttons are supplied and are reproduction Civil War U.S.
Navy buttons.
