In 1885 and in 1887, color changes were made designating the Infantry and the Cavalry from the 1872 colors- See larger view. Normally only worn on the fatigue uniforms (Sack Coat and Undress Coat). But sometimes used on the Dress Frock Coat for Undress Occasions. Shoulder boards for uniforms are sold in pairs. Branch of service colors are: Artillery - Red, Cavalry - 1872-1886 Lemon Yellow / 1887-1898 Dark Yellow, Chaplain - Black w/Cross or Shepherd's Crook, Engineer - Black w/E.C., Infantry - 1872-1884 Sky Blue / 1885-1898 White, Medical - Black w/M.S., Paymaster - Black w/P.D., Quartermaster - Black w/Q.M., Signal Corps - Black w/S.S. Staff, including ALL Generals - Black. Shoulder Boards are NOT included with coats, but are available for an additional cost. You must add these item to the cart separately. |
